The 2022 Asia Cup will be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket competition. The games will be played in the T20 International (T20) edition. India became the rival champions. In December 2018, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) awarded the right to host the tournament to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). However, it was unclear whether the games would be held in Pakistan or the UAE. Following this announcement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requested that the PCB change the venue of the event due to ongoing security concerns. After the 2008 Asia Cup, Pakistan hosted only one multi-nation international tournament. After the attack on the Sri Lankan national cricket team in 2009, only a few international matches have been played in Pakistan. In October 2021, the ACC announced that Sri Lanka would host the 2022 and Pakistan would host the 2023 Asia Cup. On 21 July 2022, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board informed the Asian Cricket Council that it was not possible to host the Asia Cup.
