Der Visual Novel “Forced Abroad” basiert auf originalen Tagebuchaufzeichnungen und erzählt ein bisher wenig bekanntes Kapitel deutscher Geschichte – erstmals in Form eines Spiels! Tauche ein in Jans Aufzeichnungen, beeinflusse die Handlung mit deinen Entscheidungen, und sammle Collectibles für dein eigenes Erinnerungsalbum. Wie wird der Krieg für Jan ausgehen?

“Forced Abroad – Tage eines Zwangsarbeiters” wurde entwickelt von PAINTBUCKET GAMES, den Machern des preisgekrönten Spiels “Through the Darkest of Times”, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem NS-Dokumentationszentrum München. Für die Visualisierung wurden Illustrationen der renommierten Künstlerin Barbara Yelin genutzt. Das Spiel ist Teil der Digitalprojekts “Departure Neuaubing. Europäische Geschichten der Zwangsarbeit”.
Rotterdam, autumn 1944: 19-year-old Jan experiences everyday war life and starvation winters in the city occupied by the Germans. At first he is still lucky and escapes the brutal raid with which the National Socialists deport thousands of young men to forced labor. But at the beginning of January 1945 everything changes. He is deported to Germany to work for the Nazis from then on. A journey into the unknown begins …

The visual novel “Forced Abroad” is based on original diary entries and tells a little-known chapter of German history – for the first time in the form of a game! Immerse yourself in Jan’s notes, influence the plot with your decisions, and collect collectibles for your own souvenir album. How will the war end for Jan?

“Forced Abroad – Days of a Forced Laborer” was developed by PAINTBUCKET GAMES, the makers of the award-winning game “Through the Darkest of Times”, in cooperation with the NS Documentation Center in Munich. Illustrations by the renowned artist Barbara Yelin were used for the visualization. The game is part of the digital project “Departure Neuaubing. European stories of forced labor”.
